Firstly, let’s kick things off with a freebie! Burton Riggs Nature Reserve is a hidden gem tucked away off an industrial estate! It doesn’t sound too pretty or particularly scenic, but the nature reserve set around small lakes is stunning. It’s a bird spotting paradise too, so take you binoculars and see what you can spot using the signs around the reserve. Top Tip: You can park here for free, just turn left beside Anglo American’s large office, opposite the Toyota Garage.
Petting and feeding are both on the cards at the family friendly Playdale Farm. You can feed the animals, but it’s also got a play barn, go-karts, frisbee toss and more which will keep little ones going for a while!
Sewerby Hall and Gardens is a multi-faceted attraction where the historic building paired with stunning gardens and a zoo area. There are domestic and wild animals from various countries such as pygmy goats from Africa and llamas from South America.
Finally, check out Filey Animal and Bird Garden which is a short drive from the park too. There is a varied collection of animals here including exotic birds, gardens and other natural creatures for you to meet!
