Family Days

We’ve got so much to offer you here on the park at the Flower of May that you could stay with us and not have to leave, but with so much to do in the local area too you are spoilt for choice, we’ve split our family days out ideas into two sections.

On park

On park

Don’t want to leave the park? No problem, you can spend the whole day here with us!

Start your day off by grabbing your breakfast in the on-park café. Sit down and tuck into a full English to fuel up, ready for the day ahead! In a rush? They do hot sandwiches to take away too!

Our outdoor play area has something for kids of all ages, so once you’ve had your breakfast head over there to swing, slide and spin to your hearts content. Climb the tower for the biggest of slides! If you’re kids are football fans, they can join in with a kick about between the two goals on the play area.

Still not tired? Head over to the indoor swimming pool for more hours of entertainment! Check for the SPLASH! sessions which take place on certain days for added inflatable fun, otherwise it’s fantastic for swimming, splashing and having a good time!

Once all that energy has been expended, time to get some grub! Our on-park fish and chip shop does exactly what it says on the tin! But if you’re not a fish fan, try a jumbo battered sausage, chicken nuggets, a pie or other options they have on the menu!

Food out of the way, it’s time for even more fun! Join us in the family lounge for our evening children’s entertainment led by Magic Mike’s Team Oscar. It starts off with something for the smaller ones, before moving on to the bigger kids who will be humming the party tunes for days to come!

Hey look, you never left the park!

Off park

There is so much to do when staying with us without leaving the park but we know the local area has amazing things to offer too, so you might want to venture off into the local seaside towns. Fear not, we’ve got you covered here too, with some exciting expeditions for you and the family!

We say expeditions, but you don’t need to go far at all! It’s just a short drive in to Scarborough. If you want to save a few pennies you can grab a parking disc from reception and park nearby on residential streets (time limited) for added convenience you can pay to park on the Marine Drive to access both the North Bay and South Bay.

Start your day off on the South Bay where you can play the amusement games or take a donkey ride along the sandy beach. If you fancy an ice cream, try the famous Harbour Bar or the new kid on the block, Holy Cow while on the South Bay.

Hop on the open top bus which takes you round the Marine Drive to the North Side, dropping you beside the bright coloured chalets which make for a stunning Instagram selfie spot!

Walk around the corner through Peasholm Park, where, if you pick the right day may be able to see the Naval Warfare or a band playing on the bandstand. You can hire a pedalo or rowing boat to take a trip around the lake, or venture onto the island to discover the Japanese Gardens in the centre.

Once you’ve pedalled or rowed your way to a well-deserved food break, North Bay Fisheries, just outside of Peasholm Park has some of the best fish and chips on the North side, readying you for an afternoon of further exploring.

Head back past Peasholm Park to the North Bay Miniature Railway which takes your through the Open Air Theatre (which has played host to many a big name) and on to Scalby Mills via a scenic view of the North Bay. Don’t forget to wave at the friendly faces walking along the Promenade.

At Scalby Mills you can jump off and visit the distinctive pyramid shaped venue of the SEALIFE Centre. There are even penguins to see! Yes, penguins, in Scarborough!

If you’ve bought a return ticket you can head back on the train, or walk back along the promenade towards the bus stop.

If you’re staying in town for something to eat on the evening, a family-friendly, and much loved local Italian restaurant called Florios has some of the best pizza and pasta in town. Inside tip: the tomato garlic bread will be found on all locals Florios orders!
