Weekly Fire Box Inspection

Fire Boxes are to be inspected weekly to assess the general condition of the equipment and to ensure it meets an overall satisfactory level of safety.

Fire Boxes should be fitted with a tamper alarm that will sound when the box is opened. The operation of these sounders should be tested weekly to ensure the alarm is raised when the box is opened.

Extinguishers inside the fire boxes should be inspected for the following:

1.Is the fire extinguisher box in good visual condition with no obvious damage or defects?

2. Does the alarm successfully activate when the box is opened?

3 Is the fire extinguisher security tag present and intact?

4. Is the inspection date in the fire extinguisher within the last 12 months?

5. Is the pressure gauge on the fire extinguisher showing within the acceptable range?

Fire boxes should be clearly identifiable and be fitted with an identity marker and fire action notice.
